Generation: Commercialization of natural gas
Start of operation: 2020
Installed capacity:
Can supply 3,000 MW of energy
El location or office address:
Boca Chica, Dominican Republic
It currently supplies 950 MW of electricity generation in the country with natural gas, contributing to the reduction of 892,000 tons of CO2 annually. ENADOM enabled the conversion of three power plants to this cleaner fuel, allowing the Dominican Republic to achieve over 2 billion dollars in savings. Its unique infrastructure has positioned it as a key player in the most important energy hub in Central America and the Caribbean.
Recently, Enadom inaugurated a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facility with a capacity of 120,000 cubic meters, which, together with an existing facility, expands its total capacity to 280,000 cubic meters. This expansion allows for the supply of up to 3,000 MW of energy, generating significant economic savings for the country and a considerable reduction in its carbon footprint, estimated at 2.1 million tons of CO2 less per year.
