InterEnergy Group Launches the 2024 Environmental Journalism Award in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – InterEnergy Group, together with its companies CEPM and Energas, and in collaboration with the National Network for Business Support for Environmental Protection (ECORED), proudly announces the eighth edition of the Environmental Journalism Award 2024, dedicated to recognizing outstanding environmental reporting in the Dominican Republic.

This year, the award introduces a new “Digital Media” category and enhances the jury with a specialized technical team, aiming to elevate standards in evaluation and selection.

“Year after year, the Environmental Journalism Award remains committed to fostering talent and dedication among journalists who inform and educate on pressing environmental issues,” stated Roberto Herrera, Country Manager of InterEnergy Group.
The award categories include Grand Winner, Audiovisual Media, Print Media, Digital Media, Local Media, and Young Promise. This last category was designed to encourage environmental journalism among new generations of professionals.
Throughout its eight editions, the Environmental Journalism Award has awarded cash prizes amounting to more than $68,000 to 28 journalists, recognizing 26 exemplary pieces of environmental journalism. The launch event for the 2024 award united professionals from journalism and environmental sectors, emphasizing collaboration to enhance environmental awareness and action.

Kathia Mejía, Executive Director of ECORed, emphasized that “with this 8th edition, we renew our dedication to honoring journalistic efforts that inspire public attention to environmental conservation and sustainability.”

The evaluation panel includes technical experts and prominent figures such as Patricia Reynoso (Inter-American Development Bank), Massiel de Jesús Acosta (elDinero), Carolina Pichardo (Listín Diario), Cristal Acevedo (Digital Media Observatory), and Yomayra Martinó Soto (Green Energy). Electoral jury members include Max Puig (National Council for Climate Change and Clean Development Mechanism), Ana Bélgica Güichardo (Pontifical Catholic University Mother and Teacher), Víctor Bautista (Mediáticos), Francisco Núñez (The Nature Conservancy), and Marvin Del Cid, Photojournalist.
